Dangerous MLM Myths or Essential MLM Tools

In the vast land of multilevel marketing it is often difficult to separate truly useful MLM tools from the dangerous MLM myths. Let's examine a number of them here.

Myth or Tool # 1: Multilevel marketing presents an unusual opportunity because almost anyone can succeed in it from day one.

This is perhaps the biggest of the MLM myths. Multilevel marketing is a business and like any business there are basic things one must know in order to succeed. Getting a good, solid, background in strategy and techniques is one of the essential MLM tools.

Myth or Tool # 2: If I just use the same marketing approach my sponsor used I should succeed.

This is another of the commonly held MLM myths. If, for example, you joined from a post card advertisement, you can't count on using that technique yourself. It typically produces about a 1% response rate. That is way too expensive. The best MLM tools will produce 25% to 50-% response rates (writing web articles, for example.).

Myth or Tool # 3: Once prospects join a multilevel marketing program the sponsor's work is pretty well over.

Don't believe this MLM myth. Successful MLM leaders become the long term shepherds of their down line. One of the necessary MLM tools is knowing how to provide on-going training in techniques and strategies to recruit, support, and encourage down line members. This requires the most basic MLM tool of all - a successful MLM leader must be knowledgeable. Knowledge of the field is perhaps the most important contributor to success. MLM leaders must be able to offer 24/7 support.

Myth or Tool # 4: Happily accept anybody who will join your multilevel marketing program. It is sheer numbers that count.

Another of the MLM myths - well, sort of. The true MLM tools direct you to seek out folks who already have some knowledge in the field. The best prepared prospects will make both the most successful down line members and require the least amount of your time and support.

Myth or Tool # 5: Once a new member joins he will keep producing revenue from that time forward.

It is another MLM myth. Some estimates suggest that as few as 10% actually stick with the multilevel marketing programs they join. To combat this, the savvy leader relies on two MLM tools. First, as suggested above, he markets to folks who are already somewhat knowledgeable about working such programs. Second, he provides both initial and ongoing training.

Myth or Tool # 6: The best way to learn MLM is just to jump in and work a program.

That is the purest form of all the MLM myths. If it wert re, there would be no failures. The relevant MLM tools provide training both for you and for every member of your down line. Would you just jump into neurosurgery and learn as you go? Doing will in MLM requires knowledge and the easiest, most effective way to acquire that is to diligently study the field. Pursue a do-it-yourself training program by reading books and web articles or join an MLM training program run by experts. Either way, you will learn how to put the MLM myths to rest as you acquire the necessary MLM tools.

So, the bottom line MLM tools are these: Build a well trained, knowledgeable, motivated down line, well prepared to succeed. When your down line fails to succeed, you fail to succeed. When it does well, you do well. Like in any field, knowledge and practice make the difference.
